Are Cricket Bats Really Heavy?

We’ve looked at cricket bats in a number of ways. The laws relating to minimum and maximum weights and dimensions have been discussed here but what is a normal weight?

Cricket bats are not heavy. Factually Cricket Bats are divided into three basic categories these.

1) Lightweight Bats

2) Medium weight bats

3) Heavyweight Bats

1) Lightweight Bats

These bats are used by Under 15 children, who are the beginner players, and who can't lift Heavyweight Bat Up High. Playing with a heavy bat when you’re not quite ready could have a detrimental effect on your game and it can even lead to injury.

At the Early Beginning light Cricket Bat is really necessary to have, becuase it will help them build thier own techniques. Many of adults still play with lighweight bat, it'll help them build necessary skills until they go towards the Heavyweight Bat.

With Lightweight a batter has to rely much more on timing and touch rather than hard hit. They also impart more speed on the ball so, as long as that timing is good, the ball can still travel a long way. But it will not work sometimes with hard ball.

Lightweight cricket bats tend to range between 2lb 7oz to 2lb 9oz. They will certainly be below 1.3kg for those who prefer metric measurements.

2) Medium Weight Bats

Medium weight bats can range between 2lb 10oz to 2lb 11oz. These bats are used by most international players on the pitch and they mostly even don't use Hevyweight Bats. These Bats are used by Average Players such as Muhammad Hafeez, Shahid Afridi, Misbah-ul-Haq and Yunus Khan also tried these bats rather than heavybats. And these are not also too much expensive.

3) Heavyweight Bats

Not every player can handle a heavyweight bat. They will most likely be used by bulky players who rely more on their power hitting. There are exceptions. Sachin Tendulkar used a heavy bat and he certainly didn’t have a big frame. And these are the bats that are mostly used by hard hitters, they relied more on their batting. From around 2lb 12oz to an upper limit of 13lb 3oz, heavier bats also have bigger edges. The ball can, therefore, travel further even when it isn’t hit out of the middle. But be sure tht you can handle these Heavyweight Bats, before buying one.
